Form settings and going live

What the settings do, and how versions keep responses safe.

Settings

  • Form link: the address applicants use. It follows the title until the first response arrives, then it is fixed so shared links keep working.
  • Reference numbers: give each completed response a reference like GRANT-0001 (see the Reference numbers guide).
  • QR code: download a QR code for the form link to print or share.
  • Embed: copy a snippet to put the form on your own website.
  • Prefill API: create signed links with editable, locked or hidden field values (Professional and Enterprise).
  • Archive: stop accepting responses. You can make the form live again at any time.

Going live and versions

There is no publish button. Your form is live as soon as you create it, and every edit saves and goes live automatically. Behind the scenes Chariform keeps a snapshot of the form for each set of responses, so applicants always fill in the version that was live when they started and editing never changes responses that have already come in.
